I had been a college student..a uni student..and soon to be a jobless single, poor, not good looking, lazy, smelly at times?, short, twart (don't know what it means but i like the sound of it) bachelor who would join the swarm or seas of people in the streets/home who seeks for job. *gasp for air*
ok, what came to my mind is that, why are there MYTHS and EXCUSES that it would be so hard to get a job in MALAYSIA the country i love despite the many things that doesn't make it that love-able to most of its people living on its beloved land..ok I'm not sure whats with this long winded sentences that I'm making today. back to my point, how hard can it be to get a job? if people just rely on newspapers and their SucKy results, hell yea they are gonna get a job in their first interview...IN THEIR DREAMS!
if one person thinks that by just reading, doing their homework and not knowing anything that goes around them in this world, would he actually be fit enough to get a good job?ok my definition of a good job here is something that doesn't make you work like a cow and still get a decent enough salary. Of course now i may sound like some expert here saying these things but i can assure you I'm not all that smart or anything that you are thinking. I'm just saying that there are tons of people who are damn LAZY which is just the problem to why a lot are still jobless after graduating for a year or so.
Not having the initiative to learn, not willing to work or do anything more and of course demanding a high pay...who on earth would wanna hire such a person?i wouldn't if you disagree please please please do tell me that your dad owns a company and i would send in a resume and please do assure me a place yea?
to come to such conclusion i have been speaking to a number...a big enough number..how many some would ask?i give a rough number of somewhere from 30-50 students who were in college who thinks that they would land themselves a job somewhere by doing just their homework. i am a student too and hell yea i know the hardships of classes, homework's, last minute homework and all that crap, what made me different from most of the freshies i know now is that i don't and never did whine bout my workload. The reason is simple..i know its my fault for not managing my time well enough, i slack most of the time and very much often procrastinate like 90% of my life when it comes to these things. I don't even do home work back in my high school days. i don't club or drink or hang out late nites in the streets. i just do whatever i can to not do my homework...sleeping for instance.
so you there who's reading this may ask yourself and try to think hard what did you do all the time or this week that made you not complete this assignment that is due in 24 hours time?or worst...3 hours. Isn't it time management that is your problem or you're gonna give the old excuse..the lecturers are not human..they give us tons ...more then we can handle in such short period. so...when it comes to the real world (working life) and you got a bunch of stuff that is due in a short period..what would be your excuse? i would assume the manager is nuts! he thinks I'm superman or something.
the hard truth is that We...or the younger generation has been pampered so badly from the schooling days and spoon fed all the way that we don't know or don't want to work for our self and often rely on others. we expect tips when there's an exam...we always say there's too much to study but little do we realize that it isn't too hard to score or pass if we do listen to what our lecturer lectures and go back and read more on it. of course i didn't do any of this =) but I'm saying it because i know if i did it i wouldn't be in this spot today...rite?
so as we adopt and keep up this excellent habit of ours...we then find it hard to get jobs. why?because we learn nothing during our uni days.
then comes the scenario where some would say..i want to go overseas to study and at least my degree would have a better name and reputation and what so ever..oh really? if you go overseas and do what you do in Malaysia do you think that you would even pass your exams?do you think they would allow you to plagiarise like how you always do in Malaysia? copy + paste from www.wikipedia.org HELL NO. I'm not sure what went through most people mind about going overseas but from my personal experience there was a big obvious case of being bias and other lots of crap. I definitely wasn't treated equally as the other students who were local and of course different skin color. nay you say? well...believe me not then, but I know what i went through. This may not apply to everyone but it is a matter of luck.
what I learn from abroad is that you need to be independent, learn your self without supervision and minimal help. friends may not help you if you suck but whatever it is (maybe you got all kiasu asses in class)..learning to learn yourself was something i picked up in college and has always believe in this sayings "college and any higher education isn't there to teach you but to teach you to learn yourself" and so very true it was. But i cant help but see the amount of younger people then me relying so much on the lecturer and all.
what would the future of job employment be if we hire all babies in to the company who knows nothing?

a really long post. anyway. i'm super duper lazy like you and i'm supposed to prepare for my seminars now but whatever. the thing about studying abroad is of course your name card looks nicer. and we're more independent i think. no more spoon-feeding. seriously. the issue about finding jobs. i think it doesn't really matter whether you're lazy and all. but of course the certificates are quite important. but not 100%. i think the way we talk and the way we handle ourselves during interviews are also important. if you're damn hardworking and nerdy and don't know how to communicate with people you don't really get a job no matter how many As you get. and by knowing more people the chances of you getting a job are also higher. let's say if you know some big boss in a big company the chances of you being hired are definitely higher. you know what i mean right? and i really think that nowadays a lot of fresh graduates are really sucked at doing jobs. although i'm still studying i know because i've worked before and i've heard a lot of stories from friends and relatives. they don't even want to learn how to use a photostat machine. this is too much i think.
eh. do you have msn or skype or yahoo messenger or anything like that? super tiring chat with you like this.
well i know and agree wat u mean but theres also this thing called initiative to learn..honestly some company would hire a person whos willing to learn and may not be that smart..chances are given at rare cases. but graduating overseas doesnt really prove much...i know people who still are jobless after coming back from aus..certificate wise...i got a lil to say bout that.certain big companies..eg;maxis dont ask for it..they ask for ur transcript since spm (form 5)so...yea they really wanna see how bad u did..and how much u improve in terms of academic and also they wanna see the clubs u join..the position u held and etc..to see if your more of a practical person or just a nerd. but tat also leads to the interview..which then ...good luck to u if u are smart and all but u talk like some mafia..byebye. =)
the only reason fresh grads arent doing too well and are complaining bout no jobs is cos they are lazy n demanding.i guess i forgot to make that my point.
i see plenty of jobs in malaysia n to be honest the pay is higher then overseas. a fren just got her job and about ayear shes earing 3.7k...n she need not to worry bout rentals n water n etc.unlike those stayin overseas.
i think big companies are more demanding because they're REALLY scared that they'll get some lazy pigs. and we malaysians are. you know. not that hardworking sometimes. can't really blame the companies. and about salary. i think certain professions you can't really get much in malaysia. no choice.
some go for quality not quantity...well theres more then enough for us to find a living..not asking for treasure hunters or mr astronouts?however its spelled..ok maybe we dont have that many tech stuff for bio medical or bio tech
