Advertlets domain expired

This is somehow funny/ironic, today I was surfing and and reading blogs...and this happen~

Funny how their domain could have expired without them knowing...I bet they have lost a ton of customer, as some forums have started talking bout them.

Domain Name: ADVERTLETS.COM

If any of you still have problems with your page loading, just remove advertlets from you page and it should load just fine. I'm actually wondering why does the java script forward us. Shouldn't it just load nothing? Why does it forward the whole page to a dead domain..hmmm...

anyways I found a reply of Josh Lim in someone's blog..not very helpful..but I guess it's a sign that he is aware of the situation..a fix should be coming up soon

Tamagochi's are back!

I remember Tamagotchi hitting the streets in 1998, it was an "IN" thing at that moment, people were playing with these egg shaped device around, which only had a little chicken. Then came the pirates making all sorts of version, you get dinosaur, lizards, monsters and etc. I got myself one too, not the original but a replica by some China company. Teens, adults, and kids were bringing it around and pressing these buttons to feed their pets so that they don't die.

Adults play them too??? yes...some parents had to baby sit an extra baby cos their baby were at school and these "toys" were not allowed in most schools. Now Tamagotchi is back again with version 4.5, advertisement isn't as great as before but some people are getting the hype. I'm just waiting for Bandai Asia/Malaysia to start promoting it big. My friend is currently working for this project, and though nothing much has been told to me. I'm pretty much guessing that there won't be such big promotions as last time.

Check out Tamagotchi's site and see the features there...it seems like this whole virtual pet has become a mini carry around computer. You can earn points and all that. There's also a phone feature which I seriously do not know how it works. Maybe someone who has a Tamagotchi here could enlighten me?

Would anyone out there get this thing again? Would you create or wanna start this craze?or trend setting? How would one see this, as in would you be saying.. "ahh that's old stuff we have long past the Tamagotchi time.." or would you say "coolness! I'm getting myself one too" Toy's market go round in circles, they come and go and back again after a period of time. The hardest thing is how to get the markets attention again after a comeback. The typical Malaysian mindset will say "thats outdated" but they will go against their word when they see a lot of people getting in to it. Question is, how do you get people in to it?

Nufflet another new Advertising company

Soooo....another new advertisement company for us bloggers..Nufflets, Nuffnang + Advertlets? Haha, these companies are popping around real fast lately. I wonder who's selling them the codes or algorithm.

First things that I notice about them is that their Faq page isn't really working correctly. The anchor links are not linking. Second thing after signing up is that I notice I'm only allowed to have one blog there, so...I'm assuming that if I were to have multiple blogs it would mean multiple accounts? Either that or they haven't realize or thought of it. Will contact them tomorrow and see what they have to say. As for now I would be placing them right below most of my active ads.

I know my blog is starting to take a long while to load. Will have to change the layout as well so it would be fair to certain advertisers. I like ads on my blog besides the fact they make money for me, but they also make it look pretty! I like new pictures and animation, makes the blog less...dull

Oh yea, they also said they are giving aways USD15! yes you heard me..15 bucks...15 smackarooo, but whats the catch? according to the faq, here's what it says.

Is Nufflets really giving away USD$15 to each publisher account? What's the catch?
There's no catch! Every Publisher will be given USD$5 upon approval of their Publisher sign-up. To earn an extra USD$10 though, Publishers will need to provide a link-back to Nufflets.com on the main page of their website.
quoted from Nufflet

So this means that only certain publisher has to sign up and they link back to Nufflet? Not sure how US users come in to play, will ask them more about this again tomorrow.

Enchanted review

A classic Disney fairytale collides with modern-day New York City in a story about a fairytale princess from the past who is thrust into present-day by an evil queen. Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer. Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?
quoted from Watch Movies

Went to the cinema the other day with an ex-classmate, she wanted to watch Enchanted which I had no idea what kind of movie was it nor was I aware of what is screening. Doesn't bother me, I could settle with any movie. So when the movie started, what came to my mind was..."omg! a cartoon?" I couldn't help but asked her.."eh are we watching a cartoon?" the then told me it's a mix which made me felt a bit relieve. It's a musical I guess you can call it. The typical Disney kind of movie with pretty catchy and nice sound tracks.

Story wise, it's still the happy ever after thingy with a little twist. This time it's not that predictable but yea the good guy wins again and the evil witch dies. Not a bad movie to watch I recon. There's one slight dissatisfaction though, I'm not sure if the cheap cinema I went in 1U is crap or its the film, the subtitle of the movie is as bad as those pirated VCD's, it was really really blur and had to see.

Otherwise it was pretty ok, I'm not a movie maniac so maybe those who are really picky would have more to say. Overall I'm pretty much contented that my RM7 isn't wasted down the drain.

In short the story is about a girl who becomes a princess in a fairy tale land. On her wedding day the evil Queen would try to stop her from taking the throne and therefore push her into some waterfall and ends up in the real world.

So the story begins with her journey in the real world where everything isn't any fairy tale but of course prince charming comes and find her. Having a different ending she falls in love with a man from the real world and stayed with him while Prince charming found a woman in the real world to follow him back to fairy tale land.

Coffee shops and notebooks

I'm sitting here in Starbucks for the past 2 hours, more people are actually coming to Starbucks or any other "high" class coffee shops these days with their notebooks. When I say high class I'm referring to the ones where you pay close to RM10 or more for a cup of drink. Places like Coffee bean, Starbucks, San Francisco Coffee and etc.

Are these places actually making money? if yes...how?the turn over rate is slower now and people are taking up more spaces by having one person per table and sitting there for 2 hours drinking 1 drink and surfing the internet. It also seem like its became a trend to have notebooks lately. I think if we look around us we would notice a lot more notebook users than 4 years back. Notebooks used to be a luxury and only people with a thick wallet would be using them...normally. Lately prices of notebook have dropped a lot and is more affordable, not to mention quality gets cheaper as well.

Anyways, I'm sure most of us have been to Starbucks, but the question is...what do we do there? socialize? surf? download (kiasu people who wants free internet). What happen to internet cafes? Remember back then internet cafe were actually coffee shops with some computer units where you pay a certain fee to go online? Now internet cafes don't seem like the places you would go to do your homework...with all that screaming and smoking and noise there from the games. Though there are some who do not allow customers to turn on their speakers but instead supply headphone, but they too don't have the softwares like microsoft word, access, or power point. No more scanning facility, no more printing service. So, is this the end of the term "internet cafe"? It seems that there has been revolution and the word cafe doesn't suit the current change no more. Where's the coffee?late?or mocha...is Starbucks now an "internet cafe"? They have internet, they have coffee and everything that qualifies it to be called a cafe.

Back long long ago, coffee shops were places where people socialize and often a place of gathering. These days the younger generation go to the club's and pub's to do this. I was reading a thesis from a MIT student about how coffee shops are changing the way people interact with each other now, people go there to go online and sit alone. What happen to the socializing? unless it is an arrange meeting with friends, colleagues or people you meet online. There wouldn't be much socializing in these places anymore.

I would very much like to hear your opinion on this...do share. =)

Dissapointing Innit

What is Innit?

Nuffnang’s very own blog aggregator is here! Innit revolutionalizes the Nuffnang community by helping Nuffnangers build each other’s traffic, share topics, and vote on blog entries they find interesting.

How to use Innit?

When you go to the new Nuffnang 2.0 homepage, scroll down and you will see a small snippet of Innit’s most popular and most recent posts.
Clicking the Innit logo brings you to the Innit homepage itself, with loads more posts to look at and/or vote on (nang).

To be a part of Innit, featured on the homepage of Nuffnang, all you have to do is login, click on the “+add new post” button, fill in a few fields about your post, click add post and you’re done. But make sure to choose an interesting description so fellow Nuffnangers will be more inclined to read and vote!

While you are logged in you can also go around surfing other people’s posts, and if you like it, nang-it!
this is no coincidence as I purposely stood there and waited for it to be deleted after the first time. So Why is it that we are not allowed to post any thing that benefits us bloggers?

most would have known what is Innit if you are a nuffnang er..user?subscriber..what ever..but did you know there was some policy that they didn't not state on their web...?

I posted my post before this about GrabMyAds and when I posted it on Innit, guess what? It got deleted...not once..but twice! This is no coincidence as I waited to see if they deleted my post again after the first time. So why are we not allowed to post what we blogged about? I don't remember nuffnang having a policy on that...oh wait..maybe they did...?I don't remember reading or agreeing to a new TOS when Innit was launched. Tim... I know my blog doesn't attracts your attention but I hope one day the word gets passed to you.

If you all care to know the time my post was deleted, it was around 10+. I see people posting about getting more money from pay per post and all those company but there hasn't been any action on deleting it...but why GrabMyAds? could it be because it was an ex-employee from nuffnang?or they know that they are a local competitor...like advertlets which benefits Malaysians? I would really like to know whats going on here.

continuation...

A couple of us at Nuffnang couldn't help but notice the latest entry you posted on Innit. While you are free and more than welcomed to try and participate in other blog advertising networks, we cannot constantly be allowing other competitors to grow their network through our very own community. That would be akin to Coke slapping on a Pepsi logo on each can of Coke they sell.

I really hope you understand our situation and if anything, please don't take this the wrong way that we are in any way trying to intimidate or restrict you from what you are entitled to write on your blog. You are free to write anything you want on your blog just as we exercise the same freedom in moderating our blog aggregator Innit.

If you have any questions. please feel free to drop me an e-mail. Alternatively, you can also reach me on my personal mobile at xxx.

Thank you and have a great day ahead.

Dear Smallstripes,

It has come to attention that you had ignored my earlier e-mail and went on further to Repost the same entry we deleted. Should you once again ignore our warning, we will have no choice but to BAN your account and blog from any further use of our Innit Blog Aggregator.

Innit is a blog aggregator owned and hosted on Nuffnang servers. We reserve the right to delete any entries or ban any users that we post offensive, racist or content that is not in the best interest of Nuffnang.

Have a good evening.

so..I was suppose to check my email if I find something wrong, jeez that didn't struck my head. Sorry to the person who wrote me the mail but I didn't intentionally ignored your email, it's just that I don't check it all the time.

So my reply/question to the person above.

Innit is a blog aggregator owned and hosted on Nuffnang servers. We reserve the right to delete any entries or ban any users that we post offensive, racist or content that is not in the best interest of Nuffnang.
so let me get this straight...any competitors which are locally base are a threat, any competitors which are not locally based like pay per post and etc are allowed?mind showing me in which line of the terms and agreement that this is allowed. yes i do understand they are a thereat but i suppose it would be fair if all post related to advertising is deleted as well along with mine.no?
unfortunately pay per post interest them..
this definately interest them...

I'm sooooo gonna get BLACK LISTED!

Hi Smallstripes,

Our stand is against direct competitors, i.e. any local competitors that we may have. We are more flexible when it comes to foreign competitors as they are not necessarily competing for the same market and same ad dollar.

The more local ad units a blog has, the smaller share of voice it has and the lower value it becomes to advertisers which explains why many top bloggers only choose to be exclusively Nuffnang as opposed to throwing ads all over their blog.

Don't take it personally, and have a nice evening :)

email 4

Hi Smallstripes,

Due to your disregard to our earlier warnings and constant efforts in reposting the earlier deleted entries, we have had no choice but to ban your blog from any use of Innit for an indefinite period of time.

I wish you the very best in your blogging career. Do have a wonderful evening ahead and feel free to drop me an e-mail if you have any queries.

so now posting on my own blog violates whatever TOS there is as well?Great...not what I remember somehow...hmmm.
